Why are Asian characters appearing in my environment?

The reason is simple: the font used to display icons is not being recognized by the browser. Since these icons are implemented using characters from far-off Unicode ranges, they often correspond to Asian characters (multibyte/unicode).
If the icon font fails to load, the browser falls back to a default system font, which displays the actual characters instead of the intended icons.

If this issue only occurs while working remotely, it's likely because you're using a VPN that filters certain types of web assets, including custom fonts.
