How is the "Opportunity" sorting criterion managed?

This sorting criterion is used to rank initiatives based on their "Benefits – Achievability" pair. The Opportunity value of this pair is determined as follows:

  • If both Benefits and Achievability trends are filled in, then Opportunity = (Benefits × Achievability) + 10.

  • If only one of the two trends is provided, then Opportunity = value of the known trend.

  • If neither trend is provided, Opportunity = 0.

As a reminder, trends are values between 1 and 5.

The addition of +10 to the product of Benefits and Achievability ensures that results where both trends are known are prioritized (with a value range between 11 [(1×1)+10] and 35 [(5×5)+10]), compared to those where only one trend is known (less reliable, with a range between 1 and 5).
This also guarantees that regardless of the sort direction, there is no "mixing" between initiatives with two trends and those with only one.

If two initiatives have the same product but inverted trends (e.g. Benefits = 1 / Achievability = 5 vs. Benefits = 5 / Achievability = 1), the one with the higher Benefits is considered to have a better Opportunity.

⚠️ Please note: this "Opportunity pair" is only used for sorting initiatives during a search operation. The numeric value itself is not displayed on screen — only the trend values are shown and represent the order.
